Medal of Honor Foundation
Valor Express Event
In keeping with our mission to support veterans in Orland Park and the surrounding area, Veterans Voices Military Group took the lead in coordinating this awe inspiring event. The Medal of Honor Foundation, at our request, sent the Valor Express touring bus from Arlington, Texas, to Orland Park for a three day community event. The first two days were at Victor J. Andrew High School and Carl Sandburg High School. The Medal of Honor Foundation instructional team provided students with information about the history of the Medal of Honor and the values displayed by those presented with our nation’s highest military award. Students were also informed about the new Medal of Honor Museum, scheduled to open in Arlington, Texas, in March 2025. More than 900 students took advantage of this opportunity. The flier for the event is below.
The third day of the event was held at Carl Sandburg High School and was open to the public. Colonel Mike Caldwell, USAF (Retired), Medal of Honor Foundation Assistant Vice President for Veteran Engagement, presented information about local Medal of Honor recipient Allen Lynch and about the schedule, structure, and displays that will be part of the new museum. The program for the event is below(click on the image to enlarge.)
All attending were invited to stay for a free lunch, provided by City BBQ of Downers Grove, with dessert provided by Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers of Frankfort, and beverages provided by Paddy B’s Pub, Orland Park. Events such as this one would not occur without the support of these patriots. Thank you!
