A Tribute to the Life of D. Lowell Rasmussen (father of Mickey Styrsky):

D. Lowell Rasmussen was born in Webster City, Iowa, on September 13, 1908. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1926 and went on to attend college for 2 years.

He married Florence Musser of Reinbeck in 1939. They had four daughters: Sue Bjurlin, Michele (Mickey) Styrsky, Bethene Stuart and Paulette Rivas.

He did construction work for the U.S. government in Trinidad for 8 months in 1942, before enlisting in the Navy in 1943. He served as a Navy Sea Bee in Guam from 1943 to 1945. After his discharge from the Navy he made a career in sales.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, Elks, Forty and Eight, Rotary, Lions, and American Legion. He served as Depar;tment Vice Commander of the American Legion from 1953 to 1954.

He died from brain cancer in 1986.
