Charles “Charlie” Anderson
A Tribute to the Life of Charles “Charlie” Anderson (brother of Al Anderson):
Charles Anderson was born on Dec. 5, 1931 and passed away on Oct. 3, 2018 after a long battle with COPD.
Charlie served in the U.S. Marine Corp, Special Services, 2/18/52 to 2/12/54 on active duty & then transferred to a reserve unit until 2/17/60.
Charles received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 stars, & a letter of appreciation for exemplary service for operating search lights for air strikes behind enemy front lines.
Charlie married Lois Claire Sanders on 8/18/62 and had 4 children, David, Lori, Jeffrey & Emil John-Andy.
He was a long haul operator until he began his career with Pacific Intermountain Express Trucking in 1968. He was an active member of the Teamsters Local 222 serving on the executive board for many years. In 1984 he returned to Utah to his farming roots, raising animals & small crops. He retired in 1993 and spent time enjoying his family.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 54 years, 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and his siblings, Joe Ann, Albert, Iris, Fay, Nina, Julie, Neva, and the late Zada, Donald, John, Lois, & Ruth. He was the 5th of 13 siblings.
Charlie was a stranger to none and a friend to all. His last wish was to donate his body to the Univ. of Utah Medical School in the hope that they may find answers and ways to help others with the horrible disease that finally took his life.
